Syracuse Philharmonic Society Funding Cuts

Last Spring was a low point for the Syracuse music scene when the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra filed for bankruptcy.  Currently there are two symphonies in the Syracuse area picking up the slack for musicians.  The future of funding for the Syracuse Philharmonic and Symphony Syracuse funding from the Onondaga County Legislature.  The Legislature has cut funding and the music community is concerned.
The Symphony Syracuse was founded by the former members of Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.  The organization was created as a crutch before the successor of the SSO is established.
The Syracuse Philharmonic was established in this summer by Syracuse citizens and administrators from Syracuse University.
The cut in funding for Symphony Syracuse is using past citing the bankruptcy of the SSO as precedent to not fund the Symphony Syracuse.  However, the same money source was allocated to buy a $200,000 scoreboard for Alliance Bank Stadium.  The money being allocated comes from the room occupancy tax.  These funds differ from property tax because they come from stays at hotels.  The Syracuse Philharmonic has vowed to conduct live performances and at the same time provide musicians with jobs as these this tough economic climate
If you are a musician that just can't afford to wait for the Onondaga Legislature to promote jobs than maybe a move is in your near future.  The movers in Albany NY are supporters of live music and hope that a bridge between the Syracuse arts, culture, and funding will be resolved in the near future.

A hurting might be approaching the city of Albany.  It is expected that ten thousand jobs will be cut over the coming year.  The State Controller stated that this will be detrimental to the State of New York's finances.  The city of Albany is heavily reliant on the profits from Wall Street to fund the state government.
According to lawmakers and Governor Cuomo the state budge is expected to be $2 billion in the red for the year of 2012.  The securities market seemed to be strengthening the first half of the year however during the second half growth has stalled.  Currently securities account for 14 percent of the State of New York's budget.  Not too long ago 20 percent of the State's budge was financed through securities.  Also one out of thirteen jobs in the state is involved in the securities industry.
In the news of anticipated layoffs, the climate has been similar.  This year during April to August four thousand and one hundred jobs were lost.  The State Controller estimates that thirty two thousand jobs have been lost between the calendar year of 2008 til now.
If you are in need of a move in the near future than trust the movers in Albany NY for your moving solutions.  From household moving to office relocations Arnoff can hand it all with a smile.

Syracuse Orange, dancing with disaster

What a crazy season it has been for the Orange.  Coming into a bye week Syracuse is 4-2.  Looking at the paper thin margin for error in all of their games it can easily be 5-1 or conversely 0-6.  The Orange have won 2 overtime games first in week 1 against Wake Forest 36-29 and the second in week 4 against Toledo 33-30.  Their latest lose was 19-16 in second OT.
Some weeks the offense will look like its running on all cylinders and other it looks like a broken engine.  The defense has been either lock down or very lackadaisical.  The Orange are still in the mix in the Big East.  West Virginia is clearly the frontrunner in the East to get the BCS automatic bid.  If Syracuse has any hope of bowling and bowling big then they need to crack down this bye week and work out all their kinks.  If the scenario that Syracuse can take down West Virginia at home then they can control their destiny.  11/5 match against South Florida is the next stepping stone and then the season ender at a tough Pitt team that soundly defeated South Florida and nearly took down Iowa will prove to be a doozie.
We will see which Syracuse team decides to come out against WVU next week.  All Syracuse fans searching for movers in Albany NY can benefit from the tested and tried Arnoff Movers.  Anything from an one bedroom apartment to a full blown office move will be done with quality, care, and attention to detail.

SUNY students take the streets against tuition hikes

Hundreds and hundreds of SUNY students have taken the streets!  These students walked out of their classes and rallied in protest to tuition hikes and program cuts.  These acts are to show solidarity to the Occupy Wall Street rallies going on on Wall Street and across the nation.

One graduate student summed up the rallying with, "I'm here because the state legislature cut SUNY's budget by more than $300 million this year, and then over the summer they passed a plan to raise tuition by $300 a year every year for the next five years."  The $300 million cut will lead to cuts of the French, Russian, Theater, Italian, and Classics.
We are talking about SUNY the largest aggregation of universities, colleges, and community colleges on this planet.  Four hundred and sixy five thousand total students pass through the sixty four campuses every year.  Even a fraction of a percent of the student body will lead to huge rallies and that is precisely what is happening.
There were grassroots rallying methods including chalk messages on the sidewalks announcing, "national walk out 10/5 noon."  While most students have heard about the Occupy Wall Street rallies the majority of SUNY walk out students are concerned about sate budge cuts, hiking up tuition costs, and increasing class sizes while cutting courses.

Set your mind at ease with your next move

Syracuse Orange have ended their September campaign with three nice wins at home and a disappointing lose at the hands of the USC Trojans.  The chase for the Big East title is getting heated as South Florida takes the 4-0 lead ahead of Cinci, The Orange, and WVU which all are 3-1.  The Orange will begin October play at home against Rutgers.  The schedule looks favorable as both October 21st game against West Virginia and the November 11th game against South Florida are both at home.
